A duo of new faces have joined the teams at two of Cairn Group’s Darlington hotels with a shared focus on enhancing the properties’ offerings for local people and tourists alike.
Mercure Darlington Kings Hotel has welcomed seasoned hospitality professional John Price who has worked in the industry since the age of 16, while the hotel’s former general manager Stuart Lloyd has taken the helm at Holiday Inn Darlington – A1 Scotch Corner, having climbed the ranks during his time with the Group.
Award-winning hotelier John has spent his career with globally recognised brands as well as running his own business, and returns to his native Darlington with this appointment.
John said: “As a Darlington local the Mercure has always been on my radar and it’s a privilege to join such a historic hotel. My goal is to carry on from the brilliant job that Stuart has done, and bring something different to our food and beverage operations for guests and those living nearby to enjoy. Watch this space as we have some exciting things coming up.”
Originally from Cheshire, Stuart relocated to the North East three and a half years ago to take a position at Redworth Hall Hotel before taking the helm at Mercure Darlington Kings Hotel, having worked in the industry for 17 years across major UK cities.
Stuart said: “I loved my time at the Mercure and have grown to be really fond of Darlington. Working with my new team, exceeding the expectations of our guests will be our number one priority. I also have plans to develop the leisure club offering which local people will benefit from, along with changes to attract more guests from outside of the region into the area.”
Richard Adams, HR director at Cairn Group added: “Both John and Stuart are absolute professionals and already have big plans for their hotels. It’s great to welcome John to the Cairn Group team, and see Stuart going from strength to strength with the business. I wish them both the best of luck in their new roles.”
