United Youth Pair Head to Carlisle

Screen Shot 2015-08-17 at 15.12.00Teenage duo Alex Gilliead and Macaulay Gillesphey have joined League Two side Carlisle United on 28-day youth loan deals.

The pair, who are both 19-years-old, are regulars for the Magpies’ under-21 side and will remain at Brunton Park until Sunday, 11th October.

Winger Gilliead has recently returned from international duty, where he represented England Under-20 in two fixtures against Czech Republic earlier this month, and followed that up with a goal against Arsenal for the second-string on Friday night at St. James’ Park.

He is yet to make his first team bow but was an unused substitute at Leicester City in the FA Cup third round last season.

Gillesphey is a left-sided defender who is capable of being deployed at either centre-back or full-back.

The former Cramlington Juniors player has made three appearances for United’s under-21s this term and signed his first professional contract with the Club in July.

Under the terms of the youth loan, Gilliead and Gillesphey will still be able to represent Newcastle’s under-21 side, and could make their Carlisle debuts in Saturday’s trip to York City.

Carlisle are currently ninth in League Two, with 12 points from their seven fixtures to date.

2015-16 season tickets are on sale now. Adult tickets available from £525 and juniors from £250. Call 0844 372 1892 or visit www.nufc.co.uk
