Vendors sought to join Sunderland Christmas market

SUNDERLAND’S Park Lane is getting set for a festive facelift this year, as it plays host to a dedicated Christmas Market.

For five weekends from the end of November until Christmas Eve, Christmas stalls will be setting up in Park Lane Market, as part of the celebrations being organised across the city by Sunderland Business Improvement District (BID).

The market will run each weekend from 24 November to 24 December, and is set to feature a host of stalls featuring all things festive.

Now, Sunderland BID is looking for retailers who  are interested in taking one of the units at any time during the five week period.

BID chiefs are looking for sellers of anything festive, including decorations and ornaments, handmade gifts, bespoke Christmas novelties, crafts, food and drink.

“Christmas isn’t Christmas without a traditional market and we want to bring Sunderland shoppers something to really get excited about,” said Sharon Appleby, Head of Business Operations at Sunderland BID.

“We plan on opening our dedicated Christmas Market every weekend from the end of November, which we hope will become a popular attraction with visitors. We want to create the perfect Christmas market shopping experience and help create a buzz around one of the most exciting times of the year.”

The market will open for business on Friday 24 November and will then be open Thursday-Saturday for the first two weeks before also opening its doors from 11am-5pm on the final three Sundays before Christmas.

Sunderland BID is now keen to hear from any retailers, crafts people or business owners who would be interested in taking a stall.
