Vintage Vinyl and Jukebox Dealer brings Music to Northallerton Branch of Darlington Building Society

image001 (9)Customers who visited Darlington Building Society’s Northallerton branch recently may have been surprised to see a juke box installed in the branch alongside the usual ATM machine.

The retro record player was installed by Northallerton based Better Daze as part the Society’s ongoing mission to promote local business.

Owner of Better Daze and former policeman, Gary Lewis is an active member of the community in Northallerton and regularly attends and contributes to the local Northallerton Retail and Business Forum in the town.

Mr Lewis opened the first Better Daze in Leyburn, in 2008, before moving to bigger premises in Northallerton just two years later. The shop, which is spread over two floors, doubles as a jukebox showroom and record store.

Branch manager, Kayleigh Turner said: “I met Gary at the retail and business forum and was impressed by his initiative to try and encourage promotion of the town’s local arcade and side street shops, which don’t always get as much publicity as those on the high street.

“We thought this would be a great opportunity for us to help a local business, while also providing our customers with a unique experience.

“We’ve had a lot of positive feedback from customers. It was great to see the surprise on people’s faces when they walk through the door to see this big, brightly lit jukebox sitting in the corner.”

Colin Fyfe, Chief Executive of Darlington Building Society, added: “Supporting local businesses is an imperative for the Society and I’m pleased to see our staff taking the initiative to help boost local commerce.”
