THE rich history of one of the jewels in Middlesbrough’s crown will be revealed at a special free event this weekend.
Stewart Park – Past, Present and Future will take place in the park from 10am to noon on Saturday, May 21.
An illustrated presentation in the Visitor Centre will cover the key figures and events in the park’s history including Captain Cook and Henry Bolckow, as well as the park’s more recent history since it was opened up to the public in 1928.
The talk will be followed by a ‘behind the scenes’ walk taking in the two walled gardens, original potting and gardeners’ bothy, nursery and former stable yard complex.
Admission is free but advance booking is essential – to reserve a place email Jim Moody at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 07513 335377.
