Wear It Festive and raise funds for Daisy Chain

Get festive and have fun while raising funds this Christmas for families affected by autism – that’s the appeal from local autism charity, Daisy Chain.

And all the staff at The Isaac Wilson pub in Middlesbrough have taken up the Christmas challenge for Daisy Chain. Earlier in the year, they raised £1,000 by completing a 13-mile sponsored walk along the Cleveland Way and have raised over £400 in collection tubs in the venue over a number of months.

Melissa Mckenzie from The Isaac Wilson, said: “My young niece has been diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder so we chose Daisy Chain as our Charity of the Year for 2018. It was fantastic to raise the money from the sponsored walk and our customers have been generous putting their change in the tubs. We’ve also raised money from bake sales and we’re now looking forward to getting in the Christmas spirit and Wearing It Festive.”

Also getting involved in the Wear It Festive campaign are staff at Wynyard Hall, where Daisy Chain is their charity of the year, and Stagecoach’s Stockton depot.

Stockton based Daisy Chain, which supports families affected by autism across the Tees Valley, is appealing for more businesses, community groups, offices, supermarkets, organisations, groups of friends to follow their example and don something festive to help raise vitally needed funds.

Tracey Wright, Daisy Chain events manager, said: “This is a great way to kick off the festive season, have fun with your friends, colleagues and team and help to support families who need the services of Daisy Chain. We are a local charity and we are extremely grateful to all the support we get from local people, businesses and organisations.”

Getting involved is simple – just grab your favourite seasonal clothing, whether it be a Christmas jumper, antlers or full Santa suit on Friday December 7, make a donation to Daisy Chain then send in your pictures to make a splash on social media.

Throughout the day, Daisy Chain will be posting updates on social media from supporters who are fundraising using the hashtag #WearItFestive.
