WINE ENTHUSIASTS CHALLENGED TO SHOW THEIR SKILLS…

WINE lovers can share their passion, with a special challenge which will give them the opportunity to be part of a unique tasting panel.

North Yorkshire based Bon Coeur Fine Wines is this year marking its 25th anniversary and as part of its celebrations has launched Taste Like A Wine Pro, which will allow keen novices the opportunity to sample a range of wines.

Around 20 wine lovers are now being sought to join the panel, which will see them receive six bottles of wines over a three month period, which they will need to review and then create their own tasting notes.

And their comments and suggestions will be shared with a wide audience, via the Bon Coeur website and through social media channels.

The challenge – which will launch on 4 September – is open to everyone over the age of 18, from those new to wine drinking to more experienced wine enthusiasts.

The award-winning company, which is based at Melsonby near Richmond, is keen to debunk the myths around wine and to promote the fun and pleasure that it can offer.

Everyone who successfully applies will be sent wines that are hand selected to suit their personal preferences and will then receive some pointers about how to write their tasting notes.

Their comments and notes will be added to the website and the top taster each month will receive a £100 voucher to spend with Bon Coeur.

James Goodhart, founder of Bon Coeur, believes the challenge is the perfect introduction to wine and wine tasting.

“We are looking for people who enjoy tasting wine and having some fun,” he said.

“This is not about being pompous and elitist, it’s showing that wine can be for everyone and for us it also gives us an opportunity to share our passion.

“We want to create a panel from across as wide a range of experience and backgrounds as possible so that we can get as many different points of view as we can.”

Successful panel members will receive information to help them get the best from their wines, including background information on the grapes or the blend and the ideal serving temperature.

“There is a lot of snobbery around wine yet really what it boils down to, is its drinkability and enjoyment factor and would you drink it again?” said James.

“And this is what we want our panel to share with us.”

Whoever is successfully selected must commit themselves to reviewing the six wines over the three months.
