Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

HOUSEBUILDER Partner Construction has secured planning permission for 250 new homes in the village of Wingate.

The County Durham firm was supported by expert planning and design consultancy Barton Willmore in developing plans that were approved by Durham County Council’s planning committee.

Partner’s proposals include a mix of two, three and four bedroom starter and family homes at the site, south of Wellfield Road.

The 18.9 hectare piece of land, which sits next to an existing housing development, will undergo landscaping works alongside construction to include tree planting and the creation of green space.

Matt Spawton, land and partnerships manager at Partner Construction, said: “We’re delighted to receive outline permission for this important development.

“The mix of house sizes will be an important addition to Wingate, and we’re proud to have developed proposals that fit the village and surrounding area.”

Martyn Earle, associate planner at Barton Willmore, added: “It’s great to have supported the growing County Durham developer Partner Construction in bringing an important site to fruition in its own community.

“These plans will bring forward much needed housing for the county and have positive economic impact in Wingate and surrounding area.

“The proposals have been carefully developed to make sure they fit sustainably within the environment.”
