With more than £3,000 raised, housing group raises a mug to charity

Screen Shot 2015-10-07 at 14.02.20Employees and tenants of a Durham housing group have helped to raise more than £3,000 with their cuppa and a cake approach to a national charity event.

Dale & Valley Homes, Durham City Homes and East Durham Homes, as part of County Durham Housing Group, are donating £3,464.40 to Macmillan Cancer Care after taking part in the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’.

The combined efforts saw employees and customers host bake-offs, coffee mornings, raffles and quizzes, which all led to the vast sum being raised.

This is the first group-wide fundraising event since the organisations came together in April 2015, following the transfer of ownership and management of homes from Durham County Council.

Bill Fullen, County Durham Housing Group Chief Executive, said: “This is a fantastic outcome for such a worthwhile cause, and shows what can be achieved by working together.”

Friday, 25 September 2015 saw the 25th anniversary of Macmillan Cancer Support’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’, with events taking place across the country in aid of the charity’s work. For more details visit http://coffee.macmillan.org.uk/
