London, Sunday 7th July – The cast of the HORRIBLE HISTORIES: THE MOVIE – ROTTEN ROMANS marched down the red carpet yesterday for the films World Premiere ahead of preview screenings on 13 and 14 July and its nationwide release on 26 July.
The film cast in attendance included Warwick Davis, Lee Mack, Sebastian Croft, Alexander Armstrong, Craig Roberts, Kate Nash, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Sarah Hadland, Tony Gardner, Rupert Graves and Kevin Bishop along with the creators of the world’s bestselling Horrible Histories book series, author Terry Deary and illustrator Martin Brown.
The cast were joined by stars of the entertainment world including Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker and presenter Konnie Huq, actor Paul Whitehouse, BBC Radio 2 Presenter Gaby Roslin, comedian Shappi Khorsandi, comedian Dave Gorman, actor Justin Edwards, comedianLucy Porter, comedian Koji Anim, former CBBC presenter Kirsten O’Brien, former EastEnder’s actors Jo Joyner and Tracy Ann Oberman.
Ahead of the film, guests were entertained by Roman Soldiers; Fortune tellers; Celts giving sword training; face painting, a balloon artist; a green screen photobooth; arts and crafts and a caricaturist creating a fantastic atmosphere and lots of fun and photo opportunities for kids of all ages!
Led by rising stars Sebastian Croft (GAME OF THRONES) as Roman teenager Atti and Emilia Jones (PATRICK) as his Celtic rival Orla, HORRIBLE HISTORIES: THE MOVIE – ROTTEN ROMANS features an all-star cast including Nick Frost (FIGHTING WITH MY FAMILY) as Orla’s father Arghus, Craig Roberts (SUBMARINE) as Emperor Nero and Kim Cattrall (SEX AND THE CITY) as Nero’s mother Agrippina. Additional cast include BRIT Award-winning artist Kate Nash (GLOW) as Boudicca, Rupert Graves (SHERLOCK) as Governor General Paulinus, Alex Macqueen (THE INBETWEENERS) as Nero’s assistant Sycophantus and Sir Derek Jacobi reprises his iconic role as Claudius.
Atti (Croft) is a Roman teenager with brains but very little brawn. When one of his schemes falls foul of Emperor Nero (Roberts) Atti is forced to join the army and sent to miserable, cold, wet Britain. Things go from bad to worse when Atti is captured by Orla (Jones), a feisty teenage Celt desperate to prove herself as a warrior. Meanwhile a furious Nero is determined to crush the British rebellion, led by Boudicca (Nash). As the Romans prepare for an historic showdown with the Celts at the Battle of Watling Street the two new friends find themselves lined up on opposite sides of the battlefield.
