X Factor star comes to Teesside

Mar 21, 2018

The Full of Life Fair is coming to Redcar Seafront this July and X Factor’s Chico is to lead its attempt at breaking the Guinness world record for the Samba.

The event, which promises a fun day out for all ages, has been planned as a day the whole family can enjoy together. Full of Life Fair will be held in Redcar’s Majuba Road car park, Sunday 1st July and has already secured some exciting live music acts for the main stage as well as artisan street food vendors, fun fair attractions and a sponsored Mad Hatter’s Chocolate Walk.

The event was created by the team at Age UK Teesside who previously ran it on a smaller scale in 2017. This year they had visions of bringing Redcar’s seafront to life whilst providing a summer date appealing to all.

Anne Sykes, Chief Executive said: “We wanted to bring the fair back this year but bigger and better, creating an event not to miss for families throughout Teesside. People were telling us there wasn’t enough for them to do in the region, so it seemed a natural progression for us to develop Full of Life Fair and create a day out the whole family can enjoy, from grandparents down to great grandchildren.”

Confirmed main stage acts include local groups such as The Seatones and Apollo Street Band, as well as Chico who will be performing and leading the world record breaking Samba attempt.

The Seatones shared Anne’s enthusiasm adding: “We love having the opportunity to perform in our local area and events like this allow families to enjoy one of Teesside’s great seaside towns and make use of the facilities it has to offer.”

Full of Life Fair is supported by Redcar and Cleveland Council and is just one of the many activities planned into their 2018 diary of events. Councillor Carl Quartermain, Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism and Communications at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council said: “We are delighted Age UK Teesside selected Redcar as the location for Full of Life Fair. This is a great opportunity for us to attract families from all over the region and showcase our town. We are very lucky to have such beautiful coastlines in our region and we embrace any activity that allows more people to make use of it.”
