A graduate of both The Juilliard School (New York) and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris—each on scholarship—YJL has earned international acclaim for her virtuosity. Critics have praised her “great ease and sensitivity” (Das Orchester) and “technical flawlessness and rich sound” (The Strad). Her classical recordings, including Prokofiev’s Sinfonia Concertante, have been described as “highly recommended” (Classical Net).
Now based in Seoul, YJL draws on her multicultural background—having lived in the U.S., France, Belgium, and Korea—and her fluency in English, French, and Korean to build a uniquely global artistic identity. Despite her father’s high-profile career as Korea’s former Minister of Trade and Industry and former Vice CEO of LG, YJL emphasizes her own independent journey—having grown up modestly and working tirelessly as a private cello teacher in Seoul while performing in classical concerts across Europe and Asia.
