Young musicians from across County Durham and Darlington are tuning up for a major public performance.
Durham Music Service holds its first Showcase performance of the year at the Xcel Centre in Newton Aycliffe on Friday, 16 October.
The show will see more than 150 talented youngsters aged between nine and 19 performing in a variety of ensembles.
It will feature the service’s County Wind Band, Big Band, Youth Orchestra and Youth Choir as well as a special recital by 50 young ukulele players from Holy Family and St Augustine’s primary schools in Darlington and the North Durham and South Durham Regional Wind Bands.
Michael Summers, Durham County Council’s manager of music education, said: “This is one of our biggest performances of the year, with dozens of extremely talented young musicians set to take to the stage.
“They all put in a lot of effort to be ready for the big night so it promises to be a fantastic evening of entertainment.”
Tickets for the showcase, which starts at 7pm, are priced at £3 and £5. To book, visit Gala box office, call 03000 266 600 or go online at www.galadurham.co.uk
