Travel across the north east has just got even cheaper for young people as Stagecoach North East has cut the cost of a day ticket by 15 percent.
As part of a national campaign, the local bus operator has reduced the price of its VIP day ticket from £2.35 to £2 from 23 January for five weeks, so under-19s with a relevant ID card can benefit from cheaper, unlimited travel on buses across the region.
The VIP ticket allows passengers to ride on all Stagecoach buses in the north east, including Teesside, Hartlepool, Tyne and Wear and into Northumberland to Ponteland and Darras Hall.
The discounted tickets will help to further reduce the cost of getting around for young people at a time when finances are often tight after the Christmas and New Year festivities. Stagecoach North East hopes it will also encourage as many young people as possible to use its bus network when travelling throughout the region. In particular, young people who use bus services to travel to job interviews, appointments and part-time employment will benefit from the latest cut-price offer.

To be eligible, customers aged between five and 18 require an ID card when they buy a VIP ticket online or on the bus. ID cards include the Stagecoach VIP ID card, Nexus Under-16 Pop Card and Network One Young Persons ID card.
