Fifteen teenagers will be serving tea, coffee, fresh scones, cakes and biscuits from 10:30am on Saturday, 6th February, at Mandale House Care Home on Acklam Road.

The youngsters, all aged between 16 and 17, have been regularly volunteering at the home, providing entertainment and activities for the elderly residents.

The coffee morning is being run to help raise funds for a sensory suite for those living with dementia at the home and to encourage wider community engagement with the residents. It is hoped the events will continue on a monthly basis.

Christine Reason, manager at Mandale House Care Home, said: “The young volunteers from the National Citizenship Scheme have already given up lots of their time to entertain our residents and we are hugely grateful to them.

“These monthly coffee mornings are another example of their generosity and we’d like to invite the local community to join us on Saturday morning.”
