North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

YOUNGSTERS ENCOURAGED TO POOL THEIR CREATIVITY …

NORTH EAST PARENTS at their wits end on how to keep their youngsters amused this summer can now find help is at hand – with a “splashing” prize up for grabs.

PaddlePod will be unveiling its two purpose-built pools this autumn –   PaddlePod @ Newcastle at Silverbirch Drive, Newcastle and PaddlePod @ North Tyneside at New York Road, Shiremoor.

And ahead of the opening, PaddlePod is inviting youngsters to show off their craft making skills by making their own PaddlePod pool – with a year’s worth of free swimming lessons going to the best effort.

Young people can use whatever materials they like and once they’ve made their PaddlePod they need to take a picture of it with the hashtag #mypaddlepod and upload it to the company’s Facebook page.

The competition will run until 30 August, with the winner announced shortly afterwards, who will be able to decide which of the two pools they’d like to have their lessons at.

Phil Groom, founder and director of PaddlePod, who is also the man behind Nemo Swimming and SwimNE, two of the region’s most successful swimming organisations, hopes the competition will be well received.

“We can’t wait to see how imaginative the entrants are,” he said.

“It doesn’t matter what they make them out of – empty cereal boxes, bits of paper and card – or just a drawing or painting, we’re just looking for them to use their imaginations.”

The new state-of-the-art pools will offer a range of top facilities, including modern changing rooms, comfortable viewing galleries, cafes and an activities room.

The photos of the models can be uploaded to  https://www.facebook.com/PaddlePod/
