Youngsters’ Tour de Yorkshire Artwork goes on Display

Tour de Yorkshire Artwork - North East ConnectedAN exhibition of children’s artwork on the subject of Middlesbrough and the Tour de Yorkshire has gone on display to the public.

Earlier this year lovemiddlesbrough ran a competition asking young people aged under-12 to submit entries into a colouring and drawing competition.

And from the high standard of entries received, 38 pieces have been picked as winning entries, with a further seven highly commended.

The youngsters’ artwork will now be displayed at Middlesbrough Sports Village throughout the summer.

A special unveiling took place at the centre on Alan Peacock Way in which the young artists and their families were invited.

Middlesbrough Mayor Dave Budd presided over the unveiling and praised the youngsters’ creative talents.

He said: “I would like to congratulate all our young people for their fantastic pieces of artwork which have created a brilliant display for the Sports Village.

“I know their pictures will brighten up the visits of everyone coming and going from the centre and it is also great to see the children getting excited about the Tour de Yorkshire and Enjoy the Ride festival, which will be great events for everyone in the town.”

Works include depictions of fans cheering on cyclists in the town, Middlesbrough bunting – to visions of the town’s landmarks in a sea of brilliant colours.

Enjoy the Ride festival events are presented in association with Teesside University.
