Youth Choirs Get Ready to Sing to Win

Screen Shot 2015-12-15 at 16.23.50FOUR talented youth choirs are set to battle it out at the Grand Final of a festive singing competition at Darlington’s Cornmill Shopping Centre later this week in a bid to take home the cash prize.

Stagecoach’s STARE choir from Darlington, Woodham Burn School Choir from Newton Aycliffe, St John’s Glee Club from Bishop Auckland and Page2Stage from Eaglescliffe will be singing to win £1000 this Thursday, 17 December, in the final of Cornmill’s Chorus.

After wowing the public and securing the most votes in the competition heats, the four choirs will perform festive favourites in front of a panel of judges comprising Peter Barron, editor of the Northern Echo, Lesley Boyle, director of corporate, community and education at Star Radio North East and Susan Young, the Cornmill’s centre manager will choose the winning choir.

Susan Young, said: “After a fantastic three weeks of heats where we have seen some really stunning performances from youth choirs from across the area, we’re really looking forward to the Grand Final of Cornmill’s Chorus.

“I’m delighted to be joined by Peter and Lesley on the judging panel and look forward to crowning the overall winner after what promises to be a magical festive event.  We wish all four finalists the very best of luck.”
