It’s another important weekend in the BBL Championship, headlined by a huge top of the table clash at Sport Central.
Esh Group Eagles Newcastle host Leicester Riders for their second league meeting of the campaign having split the first two pieces of silverware.
The Riders recorded an 85-73 league victory in the North-East in January prior to their Trophy triumph and they could land a significant blow in the title race if they claim the head-to-head.
Rob Paternostro’s side are also in action 24 hours later when they welcome London Lions to the LCS Arena.
Meanwhile, Worcester Wolves will be looking to strengthen their grip on third spot when Plymouth University Raiders visit this evening.
The season series is tied at 1-1, and Wolves captain Pavol Losonsky wants his side to keep their focus for the game’s duration, and insists his side are not concerned with working out what needs to be done to ensure a top-3 finish.
“It would be nice to finish third, especially after a shaky season at times, but I don’t think any of us are making calculations because there are still plenty of games left,” he declared.
“Both games [against Plymouth] have been different, and I believe this game should be exciting.
“We can’t let them surprise us like last time – we have to play for 40 minutes, locate their shooters and play our game.”
Following on from Worcester, the Raiders turn their attention to the latest installment of their local rivalry with Bristol Flyers having lost all six encounters so far.
Bristol are also in action tonight as they take on another one of their Play-Off rivals with Cheshire Phoenix travelling to the South West, before they face Sheffield Sharks at home on Sunday.
Finally, Glasgow Rocks can take a step closer to the top four tonight as they face Leeds Force at the Emirates Arena, although the visitors will be desperate to continue their Play-Off charge.
