Darlington Building Society branches throughout the region are getting into the Christmas spirit to raise money for a number of local and national charities.

For the last three years, the Society’s annual Christmas raffle has raised vital funds for charities, with each branch nominating their own preferred cause.

This year the prize is a hamper full of goodies provided by Simply ThankYou and includes all Christmas favourites, such as mince pies, gingerbread men and mulled winter punch.

Customers can support the various charities by buying a raffle ticket at their local branch for just £1 a strip, safe in the knowledge that all the money raised will support a good cause. All raffles will be drawn Friday 18th December at noon, one week before Christmas.

The charities are:-

  • Barnard Castle – A Smile for a Child
  • Bishop Auckland – Woodhouse Close Church Community Centre
  • Cockerton – Muscles for Mitchell
  • Guisborough – Teesside Hospice
  • Middlesbrough – STAMP Revisited
  • Northallerton – NDVSA – Northallerton & District Voluntary Service
  • Redcar – Royal British Legion
  • Stockton – Project Linus
  • Tubwell Row – St. Teresa’s Hospice
  • Yarm – NeoAngels

Colin Fyfe, Chief Executive of Darlington Building Society, said: “Darlington Building Society is passionate about supporting charities and community causes and does so year round.

“We are proud of the backing that our staff and customers give to charities and community organisations throughout the year, but it is especially important to support them during winter as overheads, such as heating and electricity, increase.

“This is another great initiative that will raise money for a number of groups and good causes including local hospices and children’s charities.”
