North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

We head into the second month of the calendar year with lots to play for across the BBL this weekend.

Leeds Force pulled off one of their biggest results in the BBL last weekend as they defeated Esh Group Eagles Newcastle.

Matt Newby’s side claimed their fourth win and now have Bristol Flyers in their sights with their opponents four wins ahead in eighth spot.

“We know what we are capable of and have been working towards results like the one against Newcastle,” declared Jack Isenbarger.

“It was a fantastic result and we had a great environment at the Carnegie Sports Centre which we hope continues.

“Our mindset has to be aggressive and attack mode. We know we have been getting better.”

Surrey Scorchers will look to inflict a rare third straight league defeat on the Eagles when they head to Sport Central tonight before welcoming Worcester Wolves for an important Trophy clash.

The two teams meet in the Quarter-Finals with Wolves winning last week’s meeting as Paul James earned the Coach of the Month award for an impressive January.

Worcester also have a league game to worry about first as they meet DBL Sharks Sheffield for the second time in 2017 having won in the Trophy last month.

It’s a big week of action for Leicester Riders as they take on Glasgow Rocks in front of the BBC Sport cameras tonight before hosting Newcastle for a place in the BBL Trophy Semi-Finals.

Cheshire Phoenix are already waiting in the last four and they return to league action on Sundaywhen they visit Manchester Giants with both teams looking to make an upward move in the standings.

Also, Plymouth Raiders look to make it seven straight wins with victory against a London Lions side who have suffered defeats in their last three games.
