Record-breaking artist Daniel O’Donnell returns to Sage One on 26 April, showcasing his latest album, Back Home Again.

Grammy Award winner and US folk icon Tom Paxton is joined by The DonJuans for an exciting folk performance on 24 April

The biggest party of the year comes to Sage One on 28 April, as the Magic of Motown presents back-to-back classic hits.

Väsen plus support from Ian Stephenson

Monday 23 April, 8pm, Sage Two

Väsen are an unstoppable force in Swedish traditional and contemporary music.

The trio of Olov Johansson, Mikael Marin, and Roger Tallroth are all acclaimed composers and performers and have produced 17 albums over their prolific career, with their distinctive tunes finding their way into the repertoire of contemporary artists like Punch Brothers and Snarky Puppy.

Tom Paxton & The DonJuans

Tuesday 24 April, 8pm, Sage Two

Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner and US folk icon, Tom Paxton, returns to the UK to perform with very special guests, Grammy winning singer/songwriter duo The DonJuans – Don Henry and Jon Vezner.

Collectively, their songs have been covered by artists including Harry Belafonte, John Mellencamp, Miranda Lambert, Neil Diamond, Ray Charles, Nancy Griffith, Judy Collins, Pete Seeger, Janis Ian, Kathy Mattea, John Denver, Faith Hill, B.J. Thomas, Blake Shelton, Peter, Paul & Mary, and Bob Dylan.

Within days of writing and playing together, they knew they were onto something. Now they’re taking it on the road!

Callaghan Plus Jesse Terry

“Breathtaking…absolutely incredible” is how BBC London’s Gaby Roslin described a recent live performance by Callaghan.

Originally from Lincolnshire, Callaghan moved to the USA in summer 2010 to record and tour with Grammy-Nominee Shawn Mullins, since then she’s been performing and winning fans all across the USA.

Daniel O’Donnell

Thursday 26 April, 7.30pm, Sage One

Over the years, Sage Gateshead has been home to shows by many famous stars, and international singing star Daniel O’Donnell is one of them. He will be returning with his new band and special guest Mary Duff.

He is the only artist to score at least one hit in the UK album charts every year since 1988, an unprecedented and unbroken 30 year span and in doing so. He has outshone everyone from Michael Jackson and Madonna to U2 and the Rolling Stones.

His latest album Back Home Again, released in March 2017, entered the UK Artist Albums Artist chart at No. 10.

Classic Clapton performed by After Midnight

Thursday 26 April, 8pm, Sage Two

Classic Clapton, the World’s No.1 Eric Clapton Tribute Band featuring front man Mike Hall, will be making a welcome return to Sage Gateshead in April.

Performing all of Eric Clapton’s classic songs including Wonderful Tonight, Tears in Heaven, Crossroads, I Shot The Sheriff, Cocaine, Lay Down Sally, and, of course, Layla. There will also be an “unplugged” segment.

Classic Clapton comprises four excellent musicians: Mike Hall (lead vocals/guitar), Paul Warren (keyboards/ backing vocals), Danny Davison (drums) and Dave Robson (bass guitar /backing vocals).

In Mike Hall, the band possesses a front man who not only looks like Eric, but who sings and plays guitar like him too. In 1999, he won a national look-alike competition held at Madam Tussauds, and received a message of encouragement from the guitar maestro.

Rejjie Snow plus Ebenezer and Slowthai

Rejjie Snow, label mate to Young Thug and Fetty Wap, has toured with Madonna and recorded with dance genius Kaytranada.

His voice is capable of riding a beat with metronomic precision, cooing to raw piano, or yawping Prince-like over a soul-rock-jazz groove.
