Pupils from secondary schools from across the Borough will round off the day a special quiz will be held from 4pm to 5.30pm also in the Jim Cooke Conference Suite. A unique shield will be awarded to the winning team. All children who attend will be able to choose a free book to take home.

Councillor Ken Dixon, Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “These events are just more in a long list of wonderful occasions that Stockton Libraries have held celebrating the written word.

“I would encourage those of all ages to come along to Stockton Central Library and sample the great range of books we have on offer and to take in the session with the brilliant local author Gabrielle Kent.

“I have no doubt that the World Book Day will very popular in Stockton following on from the great success of our recent Harry Potter book night.”
