An investment project is set to transform homes for Thirteen’s customers living on a Thornaby estate as part of the housing company’s £1billion investment programme.

Thirteen’s design and delivery team is working in partnership with Esh Living on the £800,000 project, which has started on the Park Estate.

The work, which is expected to be complete by November, will see more than 40 customers receive roofing improvements, new windows and doors, canopies and cladding.

Project co-ordinator Rubie Lee said: “We’re pleased to be working in partnership with Esh Living and we’re looking forward to working on the estate and seeing how the improvements progress over the coming months.

“The work will bring so many benefits to our customers, it will not only enhance and modernise the appearance of the estate, it will ensure the homes are wind and watertight and make them feel much warmer too.

“We’ll be working closely with our customers throughout the project and we’ll be on hand to talk to them and answer any questions they might have.”

Colin Ford, construction director at Esh Living said: “We are delighted to have been appointed to deliver another great refurbishment project on behalf of Thirteen which is a fantastic investment for the local area.”

This year Thirteen is carrying out £34.1m of internal and external improvements on homes across the Tees Valley. This includes replacing over 215 kitchens and around 80 bathrooms. Almost 1,640 properties will receive new windows and 680 properties will receive new external doors.

The work will help reduce our customer’s fuel bills, with around 1,760 new boilers being installed over the year, making homes more energy efficient and cost effective.

Over the next five years Thirteen has plans to invest over £1billion into improving homes for existing customers, building new homes, making improvements to neighbourhoods and into the support services offered to customers.
