CRIME fiction fans are in for a treat with a special visit to Middlesbrough to mark World Book Night.
Read Regional author Helen Cadbury will introduce her latest crime novel Bones in the Nest at the event on Monday, April 25.
The book is the second in the York-based writer’s Sean Denton series, while her debut To Catch a Rabbit was joint winner of the Northern Crime Award.
Before turning to writing fiction, Helen was a professional actor and a teacher, including several years teaching in the prison service.
Helen also writes for the stage and in 2014 was commissioned to write two new Mysteries Plays for a Modern Age for York Theatre Royal Youth Theatre.
The event is being hosted by Teesside University and Middlesbrough Council to celebrate World Book Night, an annual celebration of reading and books to encourage more people to read for pleasure.
Middlesbrough Council Library Development Officer Ruth Cull said: “It’s great to work in partnership with Teesside University and New Writing North’s Read Regional Campaign to present a local crime author to readers in Middlesbrough.
“We hope current library members and Teesside University students will all come along to the event to meet Helen Cadbury and pick up a free World Book Night book.”
Helen Cadbury will be appearing at Teesside University Library on Southfield Road on Monday, April 25 from 7pm (refreshments served from 6.45pm)
As part of World Book Night there will be a free book for everyone attending (while stocks last).
