A TRIP to the North East’s scariest Halloween event this month could be just what the doctor ordered.

Psycho Path presents Fearground has taken over Lintz Hall Farm at Burnopfield on selected nights until 31 October, with unnerving characters and all sorts of horrors set to spook visitors.

And while it promises a fun-filled night out with a whole host of entertainment, a huge street food and drink village and three new attractions, a leading expert believes it could also have health benefits.

Leading psychotherapist and hypnotherapist Nick Davies (www.ndhypnotherapy.com), who specialises in a range of emotional and behaviour issues, said: “It comes down to the fact that our limbic system is designed to keep us safe before looking for happiness.

“Our brains activate a subsection of our motor neurons called mirror neurons which help us learn how to defend ourselves or evade danger without experiencing any physical harm.

“So putting ourselves in potentially threatening or scary situations allows us to learn lots of strategies to keep safe for the future.”

And there are plenty of opportunities to do so at the scream park, with an extended Psycho Path route, a fiery, post-apocalyptic Psycho City, creepy funhouse iScream and a packed programme of entertainment at Anarchy Arcade.

“Whether it’s watching horror films or visiting an interactive experience like the scream park, being scared can be quite an addictive feeling,” said Nigel Holliday, of 700 Acres, which organises Psycho Path presents Fearground.

“We designed the scream park to be a really fun, adrenaline-fuelled night out and it’s great to hear that those reactions might even put visitors in good stead for the future.”

Tickets for Psycho Path presents Fearground start at £27 and those aged 13 to 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
