ONE OF THE tastiest events on the Wearside calendar is set to return, with Sunderland Restaurant Week taking place later this month.
Organised by Sunderland BID, Restaurant Week takes place from 16 to 24 March, with a whole host of eateries already on board, including Port of Call, The Cooper Rose and The Meat Up, and many more expected to sign up in the coming weeks.
The event offers a great opportunity for foodies from across the region to try old favourites and a whole range of new restaurants, with more than 30 outlets currently signed up to take part.
Restaurant Week is once again being sponsored by Station Taxis, with diners being encouraged to make a real night of it and download the firm’s app www.stationtaxis.com or call on 0191 555 5555.
Those who take part and download the vouchers available from the BID website at www.sunderlandbid.co.uk can enjoy deals starting from £5, with most restaurants running a two courses for £10 and three courses for £15 offer.
Sharon Appleby, head of business operations at Sunderland BID, is delighted that the event is back.
“We are very lucky to have such a vibrant restaurant scene in Sunderland which is constantly growing and Restaurant Week is a great excuse to make the most of it,” said Sharon.
“And we are also absolutely delighted that Station Taxis is back on board as our main sponsor and that, for those who want to drive, the city car parks will be free after 5pm throughout the week.
She also praised the support given by the outlets and that once again a range of new restaurants and cafes has signed up to participate.
“With restaurants all over the city taking part, it’s a great chance to plan an event around a meal and go for a drink with work colleagues, see a film with friends or head to the park with family,” she said.
“Restaurant Week is always popular and it’s a great time in the city, for both diners and businesses alike.”
