One of Hambleton District Council’s recycling crews made a special stop last month.
They called at the home of an 11 year old Great Ayton boy whose great interest in life is in waste – and particularly recycling.
Callum Corner’s passion for ‘rubbish’ started when he used to help his seriously ill mum put out the bins for collection.
“Callum loved helping his Mum – and now all helps all our neighbours on bin day. When we went to the council offices in Stokesley recently he spotted the recycling banners on display,” said his Dad, Paul.
“He asked Julie-Ann Barron, Customer Services Officer, if he could have some – and was rewarded with a special visit from the crew. He was very excited – and we now have a house full of recycling goodies!”
And Paul Staines, Head of Service – Environment, added: “We were delighted to make Callum’s day – he is a very special boy whose community spirit is showing at a very young age.”
