Teesside High School has secured impressive increases in the number of students achieving prestigious high grades at GCSE.
Teesside High School achieved:
- 26% of entries at A*, a 12% rise from 2016
- 47% of entries at A*-A, a 2% rise from 2016
- 86% A*-C grades
- 79% 5 A*-C including English and maths
- 18 students achieved A*-C grades in GCSE Further Maths, with two students securing prestigious A** grades and five at A*.
Mrs Kirsty Mackenzie, Head (Acting) at Teesside High School, said: “We are thrilled to follow up last week’s A-level success with a further outstanding performance at GCSE.
“Such impressive increases in the number of entries being awarded A* and A grades is a great reward for two years of dedication and hard work from staff and students alike. Several students are celebrating a straight set of top A* grades, which is an astonishing achievement.
“Both A-level and GCSE qualifications have undergone significant change in recent years so it is particularly pleasing to see so many students achieving the grades needed to meet challenging A-level entry criteria. Over two thirds of all GCSE entries at Teesside High School achieved A*-B grades.
“We look forward to welcoming many of our Year 11 students to Teesside High School Sixth Form in September.”
