Gateshead-based homelessness charity Oasis Aquila Housing has teamed up with House of Tides Head Chef and Masterchef finalist Danny Parker for an afternoon tea with a difference.
Guests can enjoy a traditional afternoon tea and hear guest speaker Danny Parker’s stories from the kitchen in the luxurious Gold Room at the Vermont Hotel on Saturday 28th April from 1pm – 3pm.
50% of the proceeds raised from the event will go to support the work of Oasis Aquila Housing, a charity working to combat homelessness and support rough sleepers to get back on their feet and into a stable home. The charity run housing projects throughout the North East and London, and also work with local people who are fleeing domestic violence or struggling to get back into work.
Community Fundraiser at the charity Abbie Scott, said “We’re so looking forward to this event and have been really encouraged by the support of the community with tickets selling fast. Danny Parker showed the rest of the nation what amazing fine dining the North East has to offer, and people are really excited to hear his story”.
Danny Parker himself commented on his involvement in the event; “Just in the hospitality industry alone, I have heard so many stories about people falling on hard times. I want to promote the charity as much as I can, so people know where they can get help. It really is one of those, ‘I want to give back’ situations. I think Oasis Aquila Housing is a brilliant charity, helping many people with housing issues, so organising events such as this to raise money is just part of the puzzle.”
RSVP by 20th April to purchase your tickets by contacting abbie.scott@oasisaquila.org or calling 0191 477 3535. Tickets cost £30 with £15 going directly to support Oasis Aquila Housing. Visit www.oasisaquilahousing.org to find out more about their work.
