North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Batman Brings Cheer to Young Caped Crusaders

The visit launched a summer full of free super hero fun taking place at both shopping centres over the school holiday period, with further special appearances planned in August from Wonder Woman and Superman.
intu has teamed up with Warner Bros. Consumer Products to bring Tyneside families DC Super Hero-inspired activities and events that will last throughout the school holidays.
intu is also inspiring members of its Kids’ Club to ‘be a DC Super Hero this summer’ by running a series of Super Hero workshops featuring a wide range of fun activities, and the chance to  take part in DC Super Hero missions by tracking down Super-Villains like The Joker and The Penguin who will be hidden in each centre.
Karen Carr, regional marketing manager for intu north, said: “We’re excited to bring the region’s families the world’s best known Super Heroes this summer, offering free DC Super Hero-inspired entertainment that is certain to put a smile on the face of all our customers.
“We’re putting the superpowers of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman together to create fantastic activities, events and DC Super Hero costume character meet and greets during the holidays that will make sure children leave intu Eldon Square and intu Metrocentre even more of a Super Hero than when they came in.
“The shopping centres are calling out for families to help avoid villainous take-overs from DC Comics super-villains The Joker, The Penguin, The Riddler and more, and it looks like the region’s shoppers are up to the challenge!”
Bryan Topham from Hebburn, visiting intu Eldon Square with son, Daniel, 4, commented:
“Daniel is a huge Superhero fan, and when I saw the event promoted on Facebook I just knew we had to come! Daniel is so happy to have met Batman today, it is all we will hear about for the next few weeks.”
Ethan Robson, 5, from Hebburn was visiting intu Eldon Square with mum, Lindsay, who said: “Ethan is Batman’s number one fan and I was delighted to see all the Super hero events taking place at intu Eldon Square over the summer holidays. He had such a great time today, we will be back to meet more Super heroes.” Clare Campbell, from Sunderland, said: “After seeing on Facebook that Batman was coming to intu Metrocentre we just had to come down and meet him! It’s been a great event and my little boy loves Batman so he was thrilled to be able to meet him. We’ll definitely be coming back to see Wonder Women and Superman.”

Louise Knox, from Newcastle, added: “We came into the centre today to see Batman, and I have to say it’s been really exciting! We love Batman! He has been really funny and my son Ethan is so please to have been able to meet him.”
