LEADING housebuilder Miller Homes transformed its Broadoaks development this Halloween with the help of children from West End First School in Bedlington.

Children from the first school, located close to Broadoaks, were set the spooky challenge to create some fang-tastic pumpkins.

To showcase their artistic skills, the children’s decorated pumpkins are currently on display outside of the development’s Tressell showhome, while the creators of the most ghoulishly delightful pumpkin were awarded an Argos gift card.

Debbie McFall, school inclusion officer at West End First School, said: “The children certainly enjoyed creating their pumpkins and getting into the Halloween spirit with the Miller Homes team.

“It’s great to see large businesses getting involved with the local community, and we’re thrilled to have taken part in this activity with Miller Homes to showcase some of the creativity of our children.”

Dedicated to creating sustainable developments, Miller Homes North East is passionate about engaging with residents living in its local communities. It has previously teamed up with schools near to its developments for activities such as Walk to School Week as well as supporting community sports teams and hosting a successful food drive appeal in aid of Newcastle West End Foodbank.

Andrew Somerville, regional sales manager at Miller Homes North East, added: “As a leading housebuilder, we believe it’s important for us to play an active role in supporting the local communities which surround our developments.

“In the lead up to Halloween, we wanted to team up with West End First School near to our Broadoaks development in Bedlington to set its children a fun and creative challenge.

“The children did an excellent job of decorating the pumpkins, which have certainly been a great talking point amongst visitors to the development since we unveiled the display.”
