The New World Trading Company (NWTC) will make a big difference to young people across the UK this year as they partner with children’s charity Barnardo’s on its 150th anniversary.

The forward-thinking pub company has launched a month-long rebrand in September across nine Botanist sites, including the popular Newcastle city centre venue, where they will share the Barnardo’s ethos to believe in children.

NWTC, who recently picked up Best Employer and Best Managed Operator at The Publican Awards, will be inspiring and supporting its team members through various charitable ventures, driving the vision and belief to make changes for the less fortunate.

The real work will come from the heart of NWTC; the people. Each site will donate 150 hours of staff time to support Barnardo’s projects in their area. Experienced team members will lend their professional skills to aid individuals, such as CV writing and interview practice for young adults, and engage with Barnardo’s services.

One project will see every Botanist site host a lunch and games afternoon for local young support workers – groups of incredible children who care for their own parents. NWTC will also be setting challenges and developing projects within local communities, involving as many staff members as possible, in an attempt to beat the £35,000 fundraising target.

CEO Chris Hill said: “I am very proud to have such amazing teams across the country, it’s time we shared their energy with our communities. We will throw our efforts into fundraising, but the beauty of this campaign will be the involvement in projects with young Barnardo’s people. The strength of our company means we can really make difference, and so we will.”

Anyone can get involved to help raise valuable money by visiting any Botanist site, where fundraising initiatives will run throughout September such as a limited edition charity cocktail, £1 donations on dining bills and events including charity quizzes and ladies’ evenings.

For every ‘The Believer’ cocktail sold, £1 will go directly to Barnardo’s and the Newcastle team is laying on a Ladies at Leisure event on Tuesday 20 September 2016.

The Botanist’s senior business development manager Paul Burns said: “The cocktail is gin-based and made using fresh strawberries and elderflower, which has already been a hit in its first few days so will be sure to boost our final total raised.

“As for our event in conjunction with Barnardo’s later this month, we have some great brands involved to offer hand and arm massages, mini manicures and make-up demonstrations. Tickets are priced at £15 – all of which will go towards the cause – so we’re inviting familiar faces, friends and the wider community to come along for some pampering and networking.

“We’re excited to bring out the best in our team with this rewarding initiative.”
