It will take place in Richardson Dees Park, Wallsend, from 11am to 3pm.

All are welcome to pop along and are encouraged to bring picnic favourites, like sandwiches, cakes, fruit, snacks and drinks, to share with friends and neighbours.

With the weather forecast looking promising, visitors can pack picnic rugs for relaxing on the grass or use the tables, chairs and marquee supplied by the council, for free.

Music and entertainment will be also be provided while there will be a small charge for the child-friendly inflatable assault course, orienteering and archery.

Free entertainment is being provided by street and circus performer Nat Lunatrick who will be giving a cookery demonstration with a twist; by doing it on stilts.

The council will also have a specialist smoothie bike there, encouraging visitors to pedal their way to a delicious fruit smoothie. Advice will be provided on growing and cooking vegetables at home or in your community, too.

And as an extra treat, a local beekeeper will be bringing along some fresh honey for families to taste and some information about bees in the borough.

In keeping with the green theme, the council’s Wash, Squash and Recycle campaign will also feature, promoting how to better manage the waste households produce.
