Stockton is a breastfeeding friendly Borough and to mark their support for nursing mothers, businesses and venues such as ARC, Costa Coffee, Love Stockton, Mini Munchkins, Remember Me Tearooms, The Stottie Company, Wags and Whiskers, have all agreed to sign up to the Breastfeeding Welcome scheme.

On Friday 5 August and Saturday 6 August, to mark the Global Big Latch On event taking place worldwide, these businesses will offer special food and drink deals to mothers as well as a relaxed and supportive environment in which to breastfeed.

Councillor Jim Beall, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Services and Health, said: “We are very pleased to see local businesses showing their support to breastfeeding mothers and offering them these great deals to encourage nursing mothers to visit the town and feel comfortable bringing their babies along with them.

“The evidence is well-established that there are significant health benefits to breastfeeding for both mother and baby, as well as a positive impact on the relationship between the two.

“I’d encourage any nursing mothers to check out the website and find out the breastfeeding friendly locations near to them and pay them a visit over the two days in August to take advantage of some great offers.”
