Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

See it first at SIRF landscapeYesterday, theatre ensemble Wet Picnic were on the High Street to set up The Ball –  a world premiere commissioned for SIRF16.

Wet Picnic will perform The Ball between 9.30pm and 11pm on Friday 5 August and Saturday 6 August.

The Ball is Wet Picnic’s new evening show about power and greed where the Gredus Family invite you to their world famous annual ball.

It is set around a giant dance floor that transforms into a human chess board.  The audience is placed around three sides of the space and at the head of the dance floor is a long table, where the family dine.  The piece ends in a party with a live band.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, Councillor Norma Wilburn, said: “We want everyone who comes along to SIRF to have an unforgettable experience and that’s why we commission acts like this.  The Ball is just one of the fantastic shows that SIRF is offering this year and it will be the first time it has been performed anywhere in the world.

“SIRF never ceases to amaze and with more than 100 vibrant and exciting shows this year’s line-up is not to be missed.

“There is so much to come and enjoy from theatre to circus and dance to music, there really is something to surprise and delight the whole family.”

From 4 to 7 August SIRF 16 brings four days packed full of spectacular street theatre, dance and music productions from all around the world. To see the latest news and full festival programme, visit the SIRF website at www.sirf.co.uk
