Brighton Gin Wins Again

Brighton Gin has rounded off another extremely positive year after being named Best Artisan Gin Distillery of the Year in the LUX Global Excellence Awards.

The LUX Global Excellence Awards are run in conjunction with LUX Life Magazine and celebrate the most outstanding crafts people, producers, enterprises and brands from across the world.

Brighton Gin Founder and MD Kathy Caton said:

“We’re incredibly proud of what we have achieved in 2019 and this LUX award is the cherry on top. There has been some huge changes and challenges at times this year but our close team has stuck together, worked their socks off and helped to continue the YOY growth we have seen since launch.”

It’s been a busy 2019 for Brighton Gin with the company finding a new UK distributor in Love Drinks, starting its export adventure, being voted Sussex Drink Producer of the Year and launching its award-winning Seaside Navy Strength Gin that went on to win a 1* at the prestigious Great Taste awards.

Judges from the LUX Global Excellence Awards commented:

“No stranger to praise, having been awarded by the IWSC for their Brighton Gin Seaside Strength, the Brighton Spirits Company is a craft gin distillery which stands apart from the crowd. It is not just their commitment to monitoring their carbon footprint, using quality organic ingredients, carefully re-distilling with fresh and locally grown flavourings, or that this vegan-friendly beverage is smooth enough to enjoy neat, with a twist, or in a delicious cocktail, it is down to the fact that all of this is done with care and attention to detail each-and-every time with the aim of ensuring the consumer is nothing but satisfied.”

“A small company, with a big heart, the Brighton Spirits Company is dedicated to the community and country of their origin and happily support charities and organisations near and far, to better the lives of those across the country. For their ability to craft the finest gin while providing a benefit to society, Brighton Gin was awarded Best Artisan Gin Distillery 2019 in this year’s LUX Global Excellence Awards.”

About Brighton Gin

The brainchild of Kathy Caton, Brighton Spirits Company is powered by a love of gin and grounded in the spirit that defines Brighton: independent, fun-loving, open-minded, adventurous and ethically conscious.

Founded in 2014, Brighton Spirits Company was Brighton’s first legal distillery and uses 100% organic wheat grain spirit and the finest fairly traded ingredients to make its award-winning gin, sourcing locally where possible.

Small batch, hand-made and super-premium, Brighton Gin is ‘distilled beside the seaside’ and is vegan certified with each bottle filled, waxed and labelled by hand.

With sustainability a key pillar of the brand, the company uses pedal-power to keep their carbon footprint down by delivering locally in Brighton and Hove on their specially adapted gin bikes; all the mash from the distillation process is composted; the bottles are made in England from 40% recycled glass; and a special water cooling system is used in production, which means water is recycled.

The brand has become an iconic and much-loved part of Brighton life and is committed to supporting community events such as beach cleans and local charities such as the Rainbow Fund.

Brighton Gin has garnered many awards in its short life. These include a gold medal at the 2016 Spirits Business Gin Masters, two silver medals at the 2015 International Wine and Spirit Competition and gold for packaging at the 2017 International Wine and Spirits Competition, along with the overall White Spirits packaging trophy, the silver award for best London Dry Gin, and the bronze for best Gin & Tonic. The gin recently picked up bronze in the International Spirit Challenge 2019, an IWSC Silver Award and the Navy Strength gained 1* at the prestigious 2019 Great Taste Awards.

Distributed by Love Drinks, retail stockists include Harvey Nichols, Fortnum & Mason, Master of Malt, The Whisky Exchange, selected Waitrose and Marks & Spencer stores and fine Brighton & Hove independents such as Quaff, Seven Cellars and Twenty One Wines.

In the On-trade, it is the only gin served in both the British Airways i360 tower on Brighton’s seafront and the Brighton Dome concert hall and can be found in celebrated London establishments such as The Holborn Dining Room, the Corinthia Hotel and the Kensington, as well as the Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland and the Atlas in Singapore.
