Carnival Fun comes to Darlington

c2THE STREETS set to come alive as the annual Darlington Community Carnival takes place this Saturday, 27 June, from 10.30am – 5pm.

The day promises something for everyone with community stalls, refreshments, cake stall, kiddies rides, Punch & Judy, sports activities, bouncy castle, street entertainment and traditional games. The theme is ‘Darlington International’ and the charity will be the Mayor’s Charity Fund.

Activities will start in the Market Place from 10.30am until 12 noon when the procession leaves the town centre to head towards Stanhope Park.

To celebrate the forthcoming visit of the New Zealand rugby team in October, a Haka will take place in the Market Place at 11.30am.

Fans of Frozen can meet Anna, Christopher and Olaf in Stanhope Park from 11am – 1pm. Live music will be on stage from 12.15pm – 4.05pm in Stanhope Park courtesy of the Forum and there will be live radio broadcasts from Star Radio throughout the event.

Councillor Nick Wallis, Darlington Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure, Environment and Transport, said: “The Carnival is a brilliant way for the whole community to get together and enjoy a day of free fun and entertainment in the town centre. Many thanks to all who have taken the time and effort to organise this event and I urge everyone to come along, enjoy the atmosphere, and have fun in Darlington.”
