Trade supplies firm, Flame Heating Spares, has backed two charitable causes for the winning enclosure, when it hosts the Flame Heating Spares Race Day at Newcastle Racecourse.

The Gateshead-based firm is aiming to raise £5,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK, with all proceeds from the event being split evenly between the two charities.

Flame, which operates throughout the North East, has sponsored the event, which is taking place on Friday, 23rd September from 4.30pm, with the first race at 6.15pm.

The company, which celebrated its fifth anniversary in June, has also invited a number of its customers and suppliers to the fixture and, as part of the fundraising activities, John Savage, managing director, and Gary Riseborough, sales director, will be ‘raffled off’ to carry out a day’s work.

John Savage said: “It is shaping up to be a fantastic evening of entertainment and laughs, with two excellent causes benefiting from fundraising on the night. The race day also provides another opportunity for us to show our appreciation and gratitude to our customer base and the community for their support over the course of Flame’s short history.”

It is the second time this year that Flame has been involved with the racecourse, as it sponsored another event earlier in the year during the Northumberland Plate Festival.

“We have enjoyed a good relationship with Newcastle Racecourse and are delighted to be supporting another exciting event in aid of two fantastic charities. It was great to be involved with the prestigious Plate Festival and we are now hoping to build on that success with the inaugural Flame Heating Spares Race Day.”
