A national IT solutions provider with roots in the North East has enjoyed a period of rapid expansion after winning a raft of new contracts.

Opal IT, a multi-platform IT solutions provider, has won more than £600,000 of new business in the last six months, mainly from companies in the education, financial, legal, creative and digital sectors and is set to eye further expansion, with the aim of growing its £2m turnover by 20% year-on-year.

The Newcastle-headquartered company, which recently moved into bigger premises after expanding its team of staff to 13, has started work on several other contracts amid rising business demand for high-quality IT support.

Andrew Metcalfe, managing director of Opal, said: “We have a proven track record of offering unique, multi-platform solutions for those who need to integrate Apple and Microsoft products within their business. Opal has had an extremely strong first half of 2016, with new business coming from clients such as schools and other education providers who need help to integrate, deploy and manage multiple devices within their IT infrastructure.

“We’re also working with some prominent names in other sectors, including an international packaging company, a private co-educational prep school in Edinburgh and an international creative agency based in Edinburgh with offices in the USA. We have recent examples where we’ve deployed thousands of devices across individual sites and we’re in a unique space due to our deep understanding and experience of Apple and Microsoft products.”

Opal, which intends to recruit additional engineers and technical sales staff to its growing team in the autumn, provides a wide variety of services and specialises in the creation, integration and maintenance of multi-functional, multi-site virtual networks. An Authorised Apple Premium service provider, approved Microsoft partner and a part of the Apple Consultants Network, the company works with local, national and international companies and its biggest client has more than 50 global sites and 25,000 employees worldwide.

Andrew continued: “We completely understand how the wrong IT advice can cost a business both time and money and our long-term relationships with clients reflects this. We try to give the best advice to clients based on their current needs and their expected growth in the next 3-5 years.

“Having a flexible, robust IT infrastructure is vital for business continuity. We manage this IT infrastructure so that our clients can get on with the day-to-day task of running their business.”

Since Opal was launched eight years ago it has enjoyed stellar growth and built its reputation on the back of several high-profile accreditations. The company is one of only a handful of UK firms to have achieved the coveted JAMF (Casper Suite) Integrater status for its ability to manage and integrate Apple devices in Enterprise.

Opal has also become an Acronis Platinum Mobility Partner for its ability to deploy secure data access solutions on Apple, Android and Windows Devices.
