Crosbys Catering Equipment Raises a Glass to Hotel Contract Win

Screen Shot 2015-08-14 at 11.26.59A North East catering firm has secured the contract to supply one of the region’s most highly anticipated hotels ahead of its grand opening next month.

Crosbys Catering Equipment, based at Brough Park Way, Byker, has been appointed to supply cutlery, crockery, glassware and light catering equipment for the Crowne Plaza Newcastle – Stephenson Quarter hotel in the centre of Newcastle, which is on course to open its doors in September.

The seven-storey hotel is the anchor of the Stephenson Quarter scheme – the largest regeneration project in Newcastle in more than 10 years, and Crosbys has been appointed to provide the catering equipment for the hotel’s restaurant, Hawthorns, The GIN Bar, and its conference and banqueting rooms, including the Stephenson Suite which accommodates more than 400 people.

Crosbys is supplying the hotel with products from Villeroy & Boch, as the firm holds the privilege of being the exclusive supplier in the North to provide the high quality tableware and crockery from the prestigious German brand, which has been manufacturing ceramics since 1748.

Director Roger Crosby said: “We’re delighted that an international hotel group has chosen to work with a local supplier for such an exciting development for the city. We’ve been following the construction process with great interest and we’re really looking forward to seeing the finished result next month.

“We’re based barely three miles away from the site, so from both a ‘green’ perspective and in terms of time, we’re ideally placed to deliver stock, in comparison to national firms based further down the country. We also open on Saturdays, so if clients need a large order at short notice, they know that they can trust us to organise that with no difficulty.

“We see this contract as being the ‘crowning glory’ of what has been a whirlwind year for the company so far, in which we have celebrated our 25th anniversary, moved to bigger premises, expanded our team and acquired specialist supplier John Dodds. We very much appreciate the opportunity to work with such a widely renowned hotel brand and we look forward to developing a long working relationship with the team.”

Paul Walker, food and beverage manager at The Crowne Plaza Newcastle – Stephenson Quarter, said: “We’re committed to working with as many local and regional businesses as we can and are fortunate to have such a high calibre of choice of suppliers on our doorstep.

“We aim to provide a very high quality dining and drinking experience and only the best catering equipment such as that provided by Crosbys will help us to deliver that. We’re looking forward to working with them to establish and grow the hotel, The GIN Bar and Hawthorns.”

Crosbys supplies crockery, cutlery, specialist catering equipment, paper and janitorial supplies to more than 2000 customers in the North, as well as a series of London restaurants and Michelin establishments across the UK and overseas.

The company project manages custom design kitchen projects as part of its service and is now expanding its project management team. Applicants are advised to send CVs to john.clarke@crosbys.co.uk
