Five-star housebuilder, David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East, is supporting local construction students at Hull College to write the next chapter of housebuilding by donating a selection of educational books.

The housebuilder donated over £250 worth of educational books to the College’s library, for use by Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment students.

David Wilson Homes is committed to supporting the communities in which it builds, and is dedicated to helping ensure the future of the construction industry through activities and donations such as this.

Gill Hurst, Sales Manager at Tranby Fields, commented: “We’re keen to inspire and encourage more people to pursue a career in construction. As Hull College is situated so close to our Tranby Fields site in Hessle, we wanted to support the local students by donating a selection of relevant construction books to help with their studies.”

“We hope that these donations will help to address the wider skills shortage currently faced by the construction industry, and look forward to maintaining an ongoing, supportive relationship with Hull College. Who knows, one day these students could become part of David Wilson Homes’ construction team!”

Shaun Shepherdson, Lecturer in Construction at Hull College, commented: “We’re delighted to have received such kind support from David Wilson Homes; the book donation was really thoughtful and will definitely help ensure our construction students have access to the most sought-after books for their studies. The books will be well looked after at home in our library, and will be excellent resources that our current and future students will appreciate for years to come.”
