Northumbrian Water is set to begin a £4m investment in water pipe upgrades in the Salters Lane area of Newcastle as part of its ongoing work to provide reliable, high-quality drinking water for customers.
The project, which will start on 12 October 2026, will see new water pipes installed in the Salters Road area, including Kenton Avenue, Wilson Gardens, Osbaldestone Gardens, Adeline Gardens, Oakhurst Drive, Eddleston Avenue and Montagu Avenue. The work is expected to be completed by February 2028 and will be delivered by Northumbrian Water’s partner, United Infrastructure Ltd.
The investment will help strengthen the local water network, reducing the risk of future bursts and helping to ensure customers continue to receive a reliable supply of high-quality drinking water for years to come.
To allow the work to be carried out safely and efficiently, temporary traffic management measures will be in place throughout the programme. These will include sections of give-and-take traffic management and temporary footpath diversions, with clearly signposted alternative routes for pedestrians. Work will be completed in phases to minimise disruption wherever possible.
