A community project, coordinated by Coast & Country Housing, has helped to provide an inviting and attractive social space for residents in Normanby.
Coast & Country staff, alongside volunteers, spruced up the interior and exterior décor of the Oakley Walk Centre in Bankfields, in a DIY SOS style operation.
The work has benefitted the entire community, not just Coast & Country residents, creating a centre local people will want to make use of.
The Redcar-based housing provider is also working alongside Galliford Try Partnerships North, which provided the much needed skills for the more advanced building work.
Johanna Watts, Community Investment Officer for Coast & Country, said: “Coast & Country is delighted to present the newly renovated Oakley Walk Centre to our residents and local community. It is now a much more inviting and appealing space to be enjoyed by everyone.
“The DIY SOS days were an enjoyable experience for all involved and I must thank all of the volunteers who came and helped us achieve the wonderful fresh new look of the community centre.
“It is vital all our facilities are of the highest standards and we continually look for ways to enhance the services we provide.”
Stephen McCoy, Managing Director with Galliford Try Partnerships North, added: “Whilst improving the quality and choice of homes across the region is our core business, we also try to give something extra to the communities in which we work. This project at Normanby provided the perfect opportunity to do that and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for all involved.”
