Easter excitement for children in Middlesbrough

CaptureChildren from families facing difficulties in Middlesbrough have been treated to an Easter eggtravaganza thanks to Safe Families for Children UK, a charity founded in the UK by Sir Peter Vardy.

More than 50 children with their families and friends took part in a range of fun-filled activities at the Thorntree Christian Centre, which was organised by volunteer group Tickle the Tastebuds and Madeleine Costigan, of Alpha Graphics, to celebrate the Easter break. Activities at the Tickle the Tastebuds Easter event included live entertainment and dancing, bouncy castles, face painting, a nail salon, as well as balloon modelling and cupcake decorating, culminating in an Easter egg design competition.

In addition, guests were treated to visits from some of the world’s most famous superheroes, including Batman and Spiderman, and Cinderella.

Keith Danby, Chief Executive of Safe Families for Children UK, said: “The Tickle the Tastebuds Easter event was a fantastic opportunity for many of the Safe Families for Children volunteers, families, friends and staff to come together in the Thorntree Christian Centre and have some great fun.

“The kids had non-stop activities and it was a delight to see so many smiling faces. For our volunteers and our supported families, it was a chance to make some new friends and meet others in similar situations and to create support links amongst each other.”

Mr Danby added: “I enjoyed the opportunity to get out of the office, join in the fun, to meet up with some of our volunteers and to personally thank them for their great work. I also want to congratulate and thank Wendy and Mel from Tickle the Tastebuds, Madeleine from Alpha Graphics and all involved in making today such a wonderful success.”
