Family Fun on the Menu at Stockton’s Summer Show

Screen Shot 2015-08-25 at 13.37.02FUN for all of the family, including bird of prey shows and stunt displays, is on offer at Preston Park Museum and Grounds on Sunday 30 and Monday 31 August as the ever popular Summer Show returns.

Between 11am and 5pm on both days, visitors will be spoilt for choice for things to do, see, hear, eat and drink as the annual event boasts a wide variety of activities and stalls suitable for all ages.

Teesside’s famous delicacy, the ‘parmo’, will be the subject of hot competition as local restaurant and takeaway chefs battle it out to be crowned victorious in this year’s World Parmo Championships.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor Ian Dalgarno and Mrs Nuala Dalgarno, will judge the contest on Sunday 30 August alongside the Parmo Hunters.

Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “The Summer Show is a very popular part of our events programme and I have no doubt that residents, and visitors from beyond Stockton Borough, will be there in great numbers to enjoy a day out.

“The bank holiday weekend is a great opportunity for families to do something together and the Summer Show offers something for everyone.

“From animal displays to brass bands and from crafts to specialist foods, I would encourage everyone to come down to Preston Park and enjoy a fun-packed day.”

The activities will be split across the Main Arena, which hosts the Stampede Stunt Company and a falconry display among other animal related activities, and the Events Village which houses specialist food, craft and trade stands.

On Sunday 30 August, there will be a special stage featuring live local musicians performing a variety of acoustic music.

Entry costs £5 for adults, £2.50 for under 16s and concessions while those aged five and under go free.

Family tickets are available priced at £12, which admits two adults and two children or one adult and three children.
