Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Feel the (Word) Power with Gyles Brandreth

Screen Shot 2016-03-31 at 13.16.25National treasure Gyles Brandreth is to bring his new show to Teesdale.

Brandreth will perform Word Power! at The Witham Arts Centre on Saturday 2nd July; his only North East date this year.

Word Power! sees Edinburgh Fringe Award winner Brandreth take his audience on an uproarious and unexpected magic carpet ride around the awesome world of words.

Whether it’s global domination you’re after – or simply getting some nookie on a Friday night – you need the right words to get the right results, and Brandreth just the man to show you how to wield them, in hilarious and typically engaging fashion.

A well-loved wit, Brandreth’s qualifications for the role as chief comedy word-wizard are second to none; a former Oxford Scholar, MP, Government Whip, Just A Minute regular, and One Show reporter, he has also appeared on QI, Have I Got News For You, Room 101, The IT Crowd, Pointless and Countdown.

Not content with being one of Britain’s most sought-after award ceremony hosts and after-dinner speakers, Brandreth is also an accomplished writer, with his acclaimed detective series – The Oscar Wilde Murder Mysteries – being published in twenty-one countries around the world.

As a performer, Brandreth has been seen most recently in Zipp! One Hundred Musicals For Less Than The Price Of One at London’s Duchess Theatre, and in Twelfth Night: The Musical at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Funny Way To Be promoter Peter Dixon said: “This show with Gyles Brandreth is another good example of how we programme shows in a variety of styles to suit a wide cross section of people in our catchment area.  I saw Gyles at the Edinburgh Festival last year and every night his show was a massive hit with a full house of adoring fans.

“It’s based around his lifelong love of words and includes hilarious stories from his life in the theatre and work as a politician. He creates a very intimate evening with the audience – who love his larger than life personality made famous through his extensive TV work.”

Tickets are £19.00 and are available now from funnywaytobe.com.
