As this year’s Festival of Thrift approaches the programme with details of the huge array of events and activities on offer for visitors is now available for people to view.

Anyone heading to the UK’s national celebration of sustainable living at Kirkleatham near Redcar on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 September can now download the schedule of listings and the site map from the Festival’s website to plan their visit to make the most of the jam-packed programme of free entertainment and other activities.

Tree-top acrobats, den-building, seed swaps, digital fixing, lots of live music, thrifty fashion shows and naming ceremonies for children, pop-up campervan restaurants and the chance to invest in original artworks from local artists or upcycled artefacts from a huge range of stallholders are just a few of the things happening across the site’s ten zones.

The event offers a wide-ranging choice of one-off experiences for visitors to get involved with including a mystery tour of Redcar on renowned theatre company IOU’s converted double-decker bus, joining a cardboard community, enjoying a meal inspired by Saltburn in the Walled Garden at The Town is the Menu, hands-on jam and chutney-making and learning new skills in workshops ranging from adventurous baking to willow weaving at a wide variety of workshops.
