A Hebburn-based green energy company has booked its place in the national final of a prestigious green energy award scheme after winning at the recently held regional round.

Castle Green Services, a subsidiary of Castle Building Services, which was launched in July 2014, has won the ‘Boiler and Renewable Installer of the Year Award (North East Region)’ in the annual Green Deal Eco Awards.

These particular awards, incorporating Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) and energy efficiency, recognise companies, assessors and installers who have notable achievements in the Green Deal initiative and the Energy Companies Obligation (ECO).

Castle Green Services will now compete against some of the biggest organisations in the energy industry in the national finals which are due to take place in Manchester on the 19th June.

Under a number of contracts that Castle Green Services were awarded last year, the installer was responsible for a significant contribution to reducing fuel poverty across the north east and Cumbria, with bill savings for consumers amounting to some £23 million.

Speaking about collecting such a prestigious award for such a new company, Castle Green Services director, Andrew Dawson said:

“On behalf of the whole team I am absolutely delighted to have been presented with the ‘Installer of the Year Award’. This accolade is a real achievement and one which I believe is testament to our staff and their endeavours.  Since launching, we have achieved significant bill savings for consumers, and assisted energy companies to meet their obligations while at the same time, we have created 26 jobs in the region.

“I am looking forward to the national finals and can only hope that we do as well there.”

Since its launch, Castle Green Services has been so successful that the savings made on Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation initiative match that of ANESCO UK’s brokerage contribution, a national organisation which topped the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 list as one of the country’s fastest growing privately owned companies in December 2013 – quite an achievement for a north east based SME.
