Stalls to raise awareness of the registration deadline and to encourage all people to have their say in the elections are being held on Wednesday 8 and 15 April at the traditional market in Stockton Town Centre.

A new national campaign from the Electoral Commission, aimed at the younger population, is also well underway using the stars of hit television show ‘Gogglebox’.

In the advert, the show’s young people share their experiences of registering to vote and explain why it is important that everyone has their say in the elections.

Research has shown that more than half of 18-24 year olds in the UK do not know that they can register online using a quick and easy process.

The deadline is Monday 20 April – visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or phone 01642 526196 to register.

Every individual is personally responsible for making sure they are registered to vote. You will need your date of birth and National Insurance number to hand.

If you have a disability and require help to register to vote or you know somebody who is disabled and needs assistance to register – call the Voter Registration Helpline on 01642 526196.
